Responsibilities

Maintain and optimize SQL Server 2016/2019/2022, Oracle 12c/19c, Postgres 14/15/16, and MySQL databases hosted in AWS environments such as Amazon RDS, Amazon EC2, and Amazon Aurora
Ensure expertise in database performance tuning, security, cloud-based best practices, and continuous availability
Collaborate closely with developers, system administrators, and DevOps teams to ensure efficient database integration with business applications
Own the stability, performance, and availability of all production database environments
Lead incident resolution, root cause analysis, and prevention strategies
Define and enforce database operational standards, guardrails, and best practices
Administer and maintain SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL databases hosted on Amazon RDS and Amazon EC2
Perform database installations, patching, and upgrades on AWS infrastructure
Configure and manage multi-AZ deployments, Read Replicas, AOAG, and Data Guard to ensure high availability
Manage SQL Server Always On configurations for improved failover and availability
Implement database partitioning, compression, and indexing strategies for performance optimization
Conduct deep performance analysis at the system, query, and indexing levels
Recommend and implement architectural improvements for scalability
Guide application teams in schema and query optimization
Design and implement automated backup strategies using AWS Backup and RDS Automated Snapshots for SQL Server
Use Oracle RMAN for Oracle database backups and recovery
Develop and test disaster recovery plans using AWS DMS and Cloud Endure
Monitor and configure proactive alerts for performance issues, storage limits, and availability risks using CloudWatch and AWS SNS
Collaborate with developers, cloud architects, and DevOps teams to integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines
Document database architectures, configurations, backup strategies, and recovery plans
Drive automation of operational DBA tasks using PowerShell, Python, AWS CLI, or similar tools
Evaluate and implement new database technologies, monitoring solutions, and optimization tools
