Requirements
- 7-10 years of legal experience in employment law, including time in private law practice and in-house for a corporation
- Appetite for innovation in a small team within a fast-growing, multi-cultural environment
- Willingness to learn and expand knowledge in privacy, corporate compliance, and trade secret protection
- Comfortable leading and interacting with internal and external business people
- Ability to make agile decisions that comply with company standards, policy, and strategy, while evolving Proofpoint practices
Responsibilities
- Partner with the HR organisation in EMEA, providing guidance and counsel on employment law and compliance related queries
- Provide legal analyses of applicable laws, regulations, and agency guidance impacting employees and HR compliance, and assist in designing and implementing appropriate policies, processes, and practices
- Collaborate with the broader legal team to enhance capabilities and services efficacy through technology and other legal operations tools and best practices
- Assist in development and implementation of legal templates, forms, communications, and operational systems to improve delivery and scalability of legal resources to a worldwide, distributed client base, working with legal team members and the sales organization
- Proactively communicate issues to leadership and drive good business, legal, and operational processes and practices; draft and implement related policies, and seek ways to automate key legal processes
- Monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities related to employment law, HR, and corporate compliance, providing proactive, strategic advice to the Sr. Director, Employment Law and HR Compliance, and relevant stakeholders
- Support audits, process reviews, and new policy creation and implementation related to employment law, HR, and corporate compliance
- Support management of outside counsel retained to handle administrative charges or lawsuits filed against the Company
- Facilitate process improvements, create efficiencies, and provide trainings as necessary
- Travel throughout EMEA as needed
