Requirements

  • Expertise in occupational safety, process safety management, industrial hygiene, office & road safety, and dangerous goods & transportation safety
  • Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., commercial, supply chain, R&D, procurement, E&PS, finance, legal) and external stakeholders
  • Experience leading teams of subject matter and technical experts
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations, J&J EHS&S standards, and risk management
  • Skills in governance, stakeholder alignment, and performance oversight
  • Experience engaging with industry associations, trade organizations, and standard-setting bodies
  • Capability to define enterprise policies, positions, and standards
  • Partnership experience with digital teams for data analytics, AI solutions, dashboards, and predictive prevention
  • Location flexibility (e.g., Belgium - Mechelen, Antwerp, Beerse; or USA - New Brunswick)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development and delivery of the enterprise workplace safety strategy, including comprehensive standards and programs
  • Develop global end-to-end safety strategy and programs across operations and value chain (occupational safety, process safety, industrial hygiene, office & road safety, dangerous goods & transportation safety)
  • Obtain alignment and buy-in from functional and sector teams (commercial, supply chain, R&D, procurement, E&PS, finance, legal)
  • Develop and support implementation of annual technical plans for regulatory compliance, risk control, injury/illness prevention
  • Collaborate with sector EHS teams to troubleshoot, adapt, and deploy safety solutions for compliance, risk mitigation, and value creation
  • Partner with sector EHS teams to integrate resource and budget needs into financial planning
  • Establish enterprise governance processes and forums for stakeholder alignment, engagement, oversight, and performance visibility
  • Lead a team of technical experts engaging with industry associations and providing thought leadership
  • Define and develop J&J’s enterprise internal and external policies, positions, and standards related to workplace safety
  • Partner with digital team to implement data collection, analytics, AI for continuous improvement and predictive injury prevention
  • Partner with digital team to design safety dashboards for performance tracking and governance
  • Support health and safety focus audits as part of safety management systems
