Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline
  • Deep proficiency with 3D modeling software (CAD, Pro-E, Creo, etc.)
  • Experience with quality tools including FMEA, APQP, BIQ & PPAP
  • Extensive experience in design and product development knowledge for components or systems used in on-road or off-road machines, vehicles or equipment
  • Extensive experience in analytical thinking: seeks discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information; explains variances; organizes and prioritizes steps to remedy situations; identifies many possible causes for problems based on experience and research; quantifies costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending actions; approaches complex problems
  • Technical excellence: advises others on technical solutions; engages subject matter resources to resolve issues; mentors others to enhance technical competence; coaches in promoting, defining, analyzing, and providing superior technical solutions; provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges; assumes accountability for personal technical performance and holds others responsible

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of new motor and generator components
  • Optimize performance, cost and reliability of current production products
  • Design mechanical motor components that integrate recommendations from motor performance and simulation teams and that leverage component commonality
  • Work with machine teams and drivetrain system engineering groups to establish application requirements for motor components
  • Work with Caterpillar SMEs to ensure robust designs and methodologies
  • Collaborate with suppliers, purchasing, and manufacturing representatives to implement motor designs and changes throughout the product life cycle
