Candidates should have 3-5+ years of experience in a product-facing data role, ideally in a startup or scale-up environment. They must possess hands-on experience owning and using Mixpanel for product analytics, including experimentation, funnel analysis, and product usage tracking. Strong knowledge of A/B testing methodologies, product experimentation, and product performance evaluation is required, along with a background in launching or evaluating new products and monitoring/optimizing existing ones. Demonstrated ownership of a full data analytics stack, including ETL pipelines, data modeling, and dashboarding (Looker experience is a bonus), is necessary. Strong proficiency in SQL for analytics, exploration, and debugging is essential. The ideal candidate can translate business goals into analytical frameworks and communicate recommendations clearly across technical and non-technical audiences. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, especially in asynchronous environments, are required. A self-starter who can structure ambiguity, manage their own roadmap, and proactively identify opportunities is highly valued.
The Senior Data Scientist will own the end-to-end product and insurance analytics lifecycle, from defining key metrics and experiments to synthesizing results into clear, actionable insights. They will collaborate with the Product team to design and evaluate new product launches, run experimentation and A/B tests, and optimize and monitor the performance of existing products. The role involves partnering with Insurance stakeholders to support analytics related to pricing analysis, plan design, loss ratio trends, and retention/lapse rates. Responsibilities include owning and maintaining Mixpanel for product analytics, building and maintaining dashboards in Looker, and working with tools like DBT, BigQuery, and SQL to ingest, model, and transform data. The Senior Data Scientist will contribute to an analytics backlog, run structured sprints, and identify and lead exploratory data initiatives to help define the product and insurance roadmap.
