Position Overview

Hudl is seeking a Senior Applied Researcher to join our Applied Machine Learning team. This role is pivotal in developing new experiences and delivering valuable insights to coaches, athletes, and fans across Hudl. You will drive significant initiatives utilizing cutting-edge computer vision and deep learning techniques, processing data from cameras and wearable trackers at scale to influence the future of sports, from professional leagues to high school teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering for customers at scale: Build, deploy, monitor, and iterate on ML models and systems that operate across 40+ sports and support thousands of simultaneous sports matches.
  • Project leadership: Own projects aligned with team quarterly goals, ensuring the delivery of high-impact results for both customers and the business.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other teams and leaders to deliver projects incrementally, resolve cross-team dependencies, and maintain the highest product standards.

Requirements

Must-Haves

  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in several of the following areas:
    • Computer Vision (classical and deep learning)
    • Wearables
    • Time-series analysis
    • Location and IMU data
    • Multi-view geometry
    • Multi-object tracking
    • Event detection
    • Anomaly detection
  • System Experience: Proven ability to build, maintain, and monitor complex AI/ML models and systems in production at scale.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in focusing on products and delivering impactful AI/ML products through close collaboration with partners.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Sports Industry Experience: Experience using AI/ML in sports for data generation or insight creation.
  • Wearables and Multimodal Data: Experience developing pipelines that integrate wearable data with video.
  • Real-time Experience: Knowledge of working with ML models for real-time and low-latency systems.
  • Foundational Models Knowledge: Experience fine-tuning visual language models or large language models for new domains and applying them to novel GenAI applications.
