Requirements

  • EU resident or Third country resident with an EU work permit
  • University degree or professional qualifications in accounting, economics, risk, compliance or finance
  • Comprehensive understanding of Depositary processes related to both traditional and alternative funds businesses
  • Solid experience in a Depositary, Custodian, ManCo/AIFM or EU or Luxembourg UCI Fund servicing role
  • Proven experience with Luxembourg, understanding and applying regulatory regimes of AIFMD and UCITS regimes
  • Proven client service experience
  • Strong knowledge of change management and expertise in transitioning and onboarding client relationships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial services regulations, particularly within the European Union
  • Fluent in English language, other EU languages would be an advantage
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to and align with Northern Trust’s corporate culture
  • Positive, proactive attitude including a willingness to engage in a diverse range of tasks and to contribute enthusiastically as part of a team
  • Capability to perform effectively under pressure and to represent Northern Trust in a professional and positive manner, both internally and externally
  • Personal confidence and flexibility to undertake the variety of tasks required to build out the proposition and win and support client mandates

Responsibilities

  • Ensure continuous execution of UCITS/AIFMD depositary oversight for Luxembourg UCI clients
  • Collaborate with the Depositary and EMEA leadership teams to anticipate, address, and validate technical requirements
  • Communicate client-related information clearly, securely and efficiently
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Support new business initiatives, due diligence, and client change projects
  • Monitor and report on delegate and third-party service provider performance
  • Provide management information and risk reports
  • Participate in relevant depositary governance forums
  • Build and maintain client relationships, seeking opportunities to enhance service delivery
  • Stay informed of regulatory developments
  • Oversee compliance with Contractual and Service Level requirements
  • Supervise routine checks of depositary functions for with alternative and traditional asset classes
  • Address operational and technical queries related to depositary services
  • Maintain and update operational procedures to meet risk requirements
  • Support onboarding initiatives
  • Demonstrate teamwork, leadership, multitasking, and a commitment to accuracy
