Requirements

  • Demonstrate proficiency in ammonia systems and ability to perform duties within OSHA/EPA, IIAR, and Tyson standards
  • 5+ years industrial ammonia refrigeration experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management, engineering, operations/production, and contractors
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and ammonia refrigeration service experience
  • Ability to multi-task and self-motivate
  • Ability to interpret schematics and blueprints during troubleshooting
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Comfortable operating at high elevations
  • Ability to lift or move 75 pounds
  • Ability to withstand changing environments
  • Ability to operate an aerial lift and sit-down forklift
  • Basic computer skills, proficient with Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Outlook); SAP preferred
  • Ability to pass a physical and fit testing for full face respirator use
  • High school diploma, Associates degree or equivalent certifications in Refrigeration/Mechanical field preferred
  • IIAR Ammonia Refrigeration training preferred
  • RETA/CIRO/CARO – Operators License preferred
  • EPA TYPE Universal License preferred
  • Ability to work variable shifts, weekends, holidays (2nd shift 5:00PM–5:00AM, rotating flex schedule)
  • Approximately one to two weeks travel per year for training

Responsibilities

  • Perform operations, preventative maintenance, and repairs of plant ammonia refrigeration systems, including: ammonia related projects, evacuations/pump outs, job specific pump out procedures, PSM involvement/documentation, equipment commissioning, compressor maintenance (shaft seal replacements, motor alignments, rebuilds), Level 1 and IIAR inspections, transducer/slide valve calibrations, RMAU’s, valve train/control valve troubleshooting, gas burner operations/safety circuits, ammonia liquid pumps (shaft seal replacements, oiler/bearing housing rebuilds for Cornell CB/HT pumps), purger rebuilds/troubleshooting, receive ammonia deliveries, oil removal, safety relief valve change outs, rebuild Parker RS/Danfoss valve stations
  • Electrical and controls troubleshooting
  • Train and assist general Utility Technicians
  • Read and understand equipment P&ID’s and blueprints
  • Perform all duties in accordance with OSHA-IIAR regulations
  • Timely repair of plant ammonia equipment/systems with precision maintenance to meet production rates and downtime goals
  • Daily data entry into CMMS system (preventative maintenance records, inspections, stock parts used)
  • Maintain safe work environment, including safety protocols and company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision
