Responsibilities
- Patrol hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders
- Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises and confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed
- Report safety and/or fire hazards or security violations
- Respond to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel, students, and visitors
- Provide restraints for psychiatric patients as needed
- Escort personnel to parking lots and hospital buildings as requested
- Participate in investigations; maintain records and prepare incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities
- Secure and/or unlock offices and facilities as required; secure patient valuables or lost and found articles and maintain log of items received
- Control parking and traffic flow; enforce parking regulations
- Respond to all emergency codes and security requests (e.g., Staff Assist, Security Alert, Fire alarms); respond to CARE Flight operations as needed
- Mentor security interns in the role of security
- Serve as a liaison to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies
