Requirements

  • Proven experience in security engineering and compliance within federal health or mission-critical cloud systems
  • Hands-on expertise with ATO processes, risk management frameworks (RMF), and security control implementation
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, and VA/DoD security guidelines
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure, AWS GovCloud) and related security services
  • Experience integrating security scanning tools (static/dynamic analysis, dependency scanning, IaC security) into CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency with monitoring and vulnerability tools (Splunk, Tenable, Qualys, or similar)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders on security and compliance
  • A proactive mindset toward security automation, compliance-as-code, and continuous monitoring
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation and/or a security clearance (certain roles)
  • Bachelor’s degree

Responsibilities

  • Lead security, compliance, and Authority to Operate (ATO) activities for mission-critical federal health platforms
  • Ensure that systems are secure, accredited, and aligned with VA and federal standards
  • Balance compliance with modern engineering practices to deliver reliable, secure services for millions of users
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
