Requirements

B.Sc. in chemistry or a related field
Previous experience in a science related environment
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered
Good understanding of basic chemistry and experience with common laboratory equipment and operation
Good understanding of chromatographic separations
Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative chemical or microbiological analysis
Awareness of quality and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry
Good problem-solving skills and logical approach to solving scientific problems
Demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations
Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as determination of test reliability, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques
Works well independently and in a team environment
Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (MS Word & Excel)
Work proficiency with Empower and NuGenesis software
Proficiency in the English Language
Light physical effort: walks, sits or stands for limited periods; occasional equipment operation; lifts light items; comfortable indoor area with possible mild physical discomfort

Responsibilities

Provide analytical support in the Laboratory Operations Department by following standard practices
Assist with method development and evaluation activities
Perform method validations and R&D analytical testing
Make detailed observations and review, document, and communicate test results
Document all experimental data in accordance with ALCOA principles
Independently carry out HPLC, dissolution, and physical testing analysis following established procedures, Analytical Methods & SOPs
Perform basic troubleshooting to overcome system suitability failures
Follow method validation protocols and carry out method validation bench work
Support ECS (excipient compatibility study) testing
Recognize and report unexpected or OOS results immediately to the Supervisor and conduct laboratory investigations under direction
Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards
Perform alternating or rotating shift work as required
Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
Work collaboratively with team members, modeling positive team principles
Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems SOPs and GMP
Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion
Actively engage in departmental systems for smooth workflow (visual management, scheduling, etc.)
Be client and patient conscious at all times
Understand KPIs, strive to improve team performance, identify system improvements, and engage in problem solving
Model positive thinking, adapt to changes, and motivate team
Proactively identify areas for improvement in procedures and communicate risks to timelines
Consistently strive to improve skills and knowledge in related field
Wear PPE as required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.)
