Responsibilities

  • Administer Veteran Education Benefits (VEB), including activities to maintain institutional approval and compliance with Title 38, U.S. Code
  • Advise and assist students in navigating VEB, certify enrollment statuses to the Department of Veterans Affairs, and communicate with students, University teams, and VA
  • Provide exceptional customer service and quality responses to eligible veterans, civilians, military students, and family members
  • Evaluate requirements for University receipt of military benefits by analyzing enrollment, financial, academic records, and regulatory changes
  • Process VA enrollment certifications, coordinate with University departments, and ensure timely/accurate processing of benefits and documentation
  • Interview students/veterans, coordinate benefits delivery with VA offices, process advance payments, update systems, reconcile records, research benefits history, and update student accounts
  • Coordinate timely filing of VA documentation, ensuring proper safeguarding and retention of records
  • Assist in developing and revising office policies and procedures
  • Reconcile incoming payments and prepare deposits for University Cashier
  • Attend military meetings, workshops, and webinars impacting benefits, compliance, and student success
  • Troubleshoot student issues, assist leaders with military funding sources to resolve complaints
  • Disseminate Shopping Sheets to prospective students and communicate regulatory changes to continuing students
  • Ensure quality improvements in office policies, procedures, and benefits delivery
  • Serve as liaison with State Approving Agency (SAA) and Education Liaison Representatives (ELR) for VA approval and compliance
  • Coordinate with Registrar’s Office, Project Management Office, and stakeholders to review/implement catalog and program changes for GI Bill® benefits
  • Prepare and submit VA Form 22-10287 (Application for Approval)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
