Requirements

  • Proficiency in teaching math courses such as Numbers and Operations (9th Grade) or Trigonometry (10th Grade), determined by self-reported proficiency and demo lesson
  • Ability to teach in-person in New York City (Baruch College for 9th Grade, LIU Brooklyn for 10th Grade), with occasional sessions at SEO Office or remote
  • Availability for specific dates: For 9th Grade - Orientation 2/12, Academy sessions 3/7 to 5/9; For 10th Grade - Orientation 1/14, Kick-Off 1/24, Academy sessions 1/31 to 5/9
  • Comfort with student-centered, anti-oppressive approach to teaching high school students
  • Ability to learn and utilize instructional technologies: Brightspace (LMS), Desmos, G-Suite, Zoom chat in a Blended Learning environment

Responsibilities

  • Instruction & Facilitation: Teach three or four periods of math, follow provided lesson plans, meet lesson objectives, and abide by SEO’s criteria for rigorous instruction and student engagement
  • Navigate Instructional Technologies: Learn and efficiently use Brightspace, Desmos, G-Suite applications, and Zoom chat in a Blended Learning environment
  • Content Preparation: Read, internalize, practice all lesson plans and materials provided by SEO prior to teaching; implement thoughtful adjustments
