Requirements

  • Ability to commit to specific program dates and times, including self-guided asynchronous training (10 hours), instructor orientations (02/05, 5:30-8:00pm), synchronous Saturday Academy programming (8:45am-2:15pm on specified dates), and asynchronous academic support (Wednesdays 6-7pm on select weeks)
  • Proficiency in navigating instructional technologies such as Brightspace (LMS), Nearpod, G-Suite applications, and Zoom in a blended, bichronous online environment
  • Availability for co-teaching 9th-12th grade Advisory courses (Personal and Social Identities, Mentoring, Current Events in Society, Self and Society) using provided curriculum
  • Responsiveness to coaching, including at least two meetings with assigned instructional coach for feedback implementation
  • Timely attendance at all scheduled meetings, professional development, check-ins, debriefs, and responses to emails/Zoom chats
  • Ability to work part-time, seasonal, remotely from Guilford County, NC area

Responsibilities

  • Co-teach three to four periods including ELA and Advisory; lead class independently when covering for another instructor; follow provided lesson plans, meet objectives, and adhere to SEO’s criteria for rigorous instruction and student engagement
  • Learn and efficiently utilize instructional technologies (Brightspace, Nearpod, G-Suite, Zoom) in a blended learning environment
  • Prepare content by reading, internalizing, and practicing all lesson plans/materials prior to teaching; implement adjustments to pacing and activities based on student needs
  • Provide tutoring and academic support by hosting open-door lunch tutoring sessions for skill review, makeup work, or skill development
  • Foster classroom culture by projecting an energetic, engaging, approachable persona to promote student connection to content, investment in learning, and positive community relationships
  • Collaborate with SEO staff and instructors by attending all meetings, trainings, check-ins, debriefs, and responding timely to communications
  • Meet with assigned instructional coach at least twice per semester to receive and implement feedback from classroom observations
