Requirements

Strong background in Rust programming, well-versed in Rust's unique features, efficient and reliable software development, comfortable with architectural decisions and large codebases
Strong understanding of Rust fundamentals, programming model, and concurrency
Experience with system design and infrastructure: understanding of cloud environments, some knowledge of k8s
Experience with PostgreSQL (significant advantage; extensions or high-performance context)
Ability to self-manage: motivated self-starter, good at working asynchronously across teams, identifies improvements and ships them
Basics of Distributed Systems: understanding of consistency, fault tolerance, distributed consensus; knowledge of architectures and patterns is a plus
Ability to independently tackle medium to complex initiatives and share progress clearly
Experience with Git and version control practices
Willingness to evolve and shape development tools/stack
Willingness to regularly talk to customers
Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
Nice to haves
Experience with PostgreSQL as a user and/or extension author
Experience with GraphQL
Experience working on large, open-source projects

Responsibilities

Contribute to Rust repos: pg_replicate, wrappers, pg_graphql, dbdev, pg_jsonschema
Participate in the successful rollout of pl/rust
Refine https://github.com/supabase/pg_replicate
Expand PostgreSQL extensions
Develop CLI tooling for the dbdev package index
Assist in development of several other repositories
Contribute to development of Rust projects: refine existing features and develop new ones
Participate in design and development of PostgreSQL extensions and package index
Build tools within the Supabase ecosystem, occasionally dogfooding own work
Interact with customers on a daily basis
Triage and fix GitHub issues
