Requirements

  • Minimum 25 GRT Master License, Upon Near Coastal Waters
  • Valid Transportation Worker's Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Valid US Passport or US Permanent Resident Card with valid passport
  • STCW Basic Safety Training (BST)
  • USCG Medical Certificate (provided by Lindblad)
  • STCW Crowd Management (CM) (provided by Lindblad)
  • STCW Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties (provided by Lindblad)

Responsibilities

  • Sweep decks, wash windows, keep vessels free of rust, and empty trash receptacles on a regular basis
  • Clean public restrooms and general interior areas such as bulkheads and lockers
  • Prime and paint the vessel as assigned
  • Assist Engineering, Hotel, and Expeditions departments as directed by Chief Mate
  • Use chemicals for cleaning and ship maintenance while ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (gloves, safety glasses, respirators, etc.)
  • Perform various special projects as per the Chief Mate's work list
  • Handle lines during docking and undocking procedures
  • Perform assigned anchoring duties as needed
  • Assist the Bridge Watch Officer with lookout and wheel watch as needed
  • Assist with lowering/raising and tying up/casting off of inflatable boats and kayaks
  • Assist with loading guests, staff, and crew in and out of inflatable boats
  • Assist in driving inflatable boats as directed by Chief Mate
  • Participate in onboard safety training, meetings, and drills (fire, abandon ship, man overboard, flooding, medical emergencies) as directed by the Captain
  • Participate in shoreside training as required by the company
  • Conduct hourly security patrols, including inspection of the engine room and lazarette at night
  • Serve on gangway watch as needed
  • Be familiar with all duties under the company Safety Management System, including Emergency Response activities
  • Load/off-load guest luggage
  • Haul ship's trash, laundry, and stores as needed
  • Pull, clean, and replace galley mats; clean galley deck; wash used galley rags
  • Assist in the training of new rotational and/or seasonal deckhands
