Requirements

  • Adheres to Organization Compliance Program, regulatory and Organization policy requirements
  • Maintains competency with all emergency operational procedures, including CPR and emergency measures
  • Complies with data collection, auditing activities, and all organization, company, federal, state, and local regulations
  • Practices Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), including use of CQI tools
  • Maintains facility environmental integrity and safety
  • Operates facility equipment and technology (e.g., patient monitors, defibrillators, medical recording devices, sterilizers, computers) safely and efficiently
  • Inspects operation of facility equipment and reports malfunctions/maintenance needs

Responsibilities

  • Supports organization quality standards by meeting regulatory/accrediting requirements, implementing quality goals/action plans, addressing adverse events, and ensuring policies/procedures are followed
  • Obtains medical history, discusses procedure, answers questions, performs nursing assessment on procedure day
  • Provides patient/family education on post-procedure care of vascular access
  • Monitors patient condition pre/during/post-procedure, especially for moderate sedation and contrast media reactions/complications
  • Acts as patient resource, addresses concerns, communicates issues to management
  • Completes accurate documentation of patient information from admission to discharge
  • Confirms written orders, consents, lab work; prepares/delivers lab requisitions; reports lab results to physician
  • Administers medications and IV moderate sedation per physician orders and regulations
  • Acts as scrub technologist during procedures, maintaining sterile technique
  • Assists with patient workflow, including transport
  • Performs point-of-care laboratory testing and IV insertion per physician orders and regulations
  • Performs additional tasks as designated by physician, in compliance with state regulations
  • Provides regular/effective communication with physicians; attends/participates in CQI meetings; reports on topics
  • Assists facility management with physicians/staff to verify instruments/equipment
  • Assists physician with state-required adverse event reports and internal reporting
  • Maintains integrity of medical records and administrative/operational records
