Risk Manager - Dutch Payments Entity

Position Overview

Remote is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Risk Manager to join our Payments & Fintech organization. This role is crucial for shaping our risk management approach from the ground up as we work towards securing our EU payment service provider license. You will be instrumental in building and owning the risk management framework for our Dutch entity and the broader payments organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, maintaining effective internal controls, and enabling safe, global access to employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

As Risk Manager, you will serve in a critical second-line-of-defense capacity, responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating risks across the Dutch payments entity and the wider payments organization. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Framework Development: Designing and managing the end-to-end risk management framework and underlying processes. Developing systems for identifying, documenting, and monitoring risks in partnership with business stakeholders.
  • Risk Assessment & Management: Leading efforts to assess and manage all material risks, including operational, compliance, tech, outsourcing, strategic, and financial risks.
  • Investigation & Reporting: Conducting data-driven investigations and drafting internal reports on findings related to emerging risks or incidents.
  • Risk Register Management: Maintaining and continuously updating the company-wide risk register, and escalating material risks or control weaknesses to the Management Board.
  • Advisory Role: Advising the Board on risk appetite, emerging threats, and the effectiveness of our risk management strategy, monitoring exposure and ensuring we stay within acceptable thresholds.
  • Outsourcing Risk: Acting as the designated point of contact for outsourcing risk (alongside the Head of the Dutch entity), overseeing the outsourcing register and third-party risk controls.
  • Risk Communication: Preparing regular risk maps and reports, both qualitative and quantitative, and sharing insights across the business to ensure teams understand their risk environment.
  • Remediation Support: Providing support in the drafting and refinement of remediation plans and responses to supervisory recommendations, and effectively tracking progress to ensure their prompt implementation.

What You Bring

  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in risk management, ideally within a regulated Payment Service Provider, Fintech, or Financial services environment.
  • Framework Proficiency: Proven ability to design and manage risk control frameworks, conduct risk assessments, and navigate regulatory reporting requirements independently.
