Requirements

  • Strong expertise in ASC 606 revenue accounting and the quote-to-cash process (subject matter expert level)
  • Experience overseeing accounting for multiple revenue streams
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, including ability to build formal accounting policies, prepare technical revenue accounting memos, and monitor relevant developments
  • Ability to review customer contracts for revenue recognition compliance with company policies and ASC 606
  • Capability to review, document, and communicate revenue impacts for customer contracts
  • Experience participating in month-end close processes, including journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations, and reviewing team members' work
  • Skills in working cross-functionally to standardize procedures, drive process improvements, and implement automation
  • Ability to develop and provide technical revenue recognition training to cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on ASC 606 revenue accounting and the quote-to-cash process
  • Oversee the accounting of multiple revenue streams and design, implement, and execute scalable processes for efficient close and strong controls
  • Build formal accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP, prepare technical revenue accounting memos, and monitor US GAAP developments for compliance
  • Review customer contracts for revenue recognition to ensure compliance with company policies and ASC 606 standards
  • Review, document, and communicate revenue impacts for customer contracts per Retool's policies and ASC 606
  • Participate in the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, account analysis, revenue account reconciliations, and reviewing team members' work
  • Work cross-functionally to standardize procedures, drive process improvements, and automation to streamline revenue accounting and improve closes and internal controls
  • Develop and provide technical revenue recognition training to cross-functional teams
  • Support revenue recognition and contract structuring, new product introduction, revenue accounting processes, cross-functional collaboration with sales and revenue operations
  • Build and uphold revenue recognition standards, develop processes and controls, identify automation opportunities to scale
  • Support external audits and lead special projects to build new accounting capabilities
