Prior experience in a care-taking role for persons with disabilities preferred
Willing to work evening and weekend shifts, with some daytime hours based on client and program need
Effective communication skills and ability to interact respectfully and sensitively with clients, client’s family, and staff

Ability to work with up to three clients during a single session
Physical ability: frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, twisting; stand or sit for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours); occasional lifting/carrying up to 25-50 lbs.; implement behavior management including responding to physically aggressive behavior; visual and auditory acuity; utilize computer and cell phone (iPhone); communicate effectively (speak, listen, read, write)
Frequent driving with reliable transportation
Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance through DOJ/FBI

Responsibilities

Provide quality care by actively engaging clients with recreational activities in home or community (e.g., arts & crafts, games, music, computer, socialization, reading, based on client choice)
Provide support with basic living skills (e.g., toileting, hygiene, food prep, feeding, dressing, chores)
Adhere to respite program rules, agency policies, and procedures
Follow family’s home rules, respecting cultural and other home practices
Observe and apply safety protocols for clients and staff
Complete and submit timely and accurate billing-related data
Maintain confidentiality of client data per HIPAA
Supervise activities, provide companionship, and coordinate care with caregivers in client’s residence and community
Provide occasional coverage for Kaleidoscope Adult Community program on weekdays during business hours
