Requirements

  • High school degree or GED
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • At least one year of experience in agriculture (preferred)
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Numerical competency (required)
  • Computer literacy (preferred)
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear frequently
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to climb ladders, lift supplies in/out of rooms and pickup trucks, walk on uneven terrain
  • Full body motion; two-hand manipulation; lifting and carrying; driving, sitting, walking, or standing for >6 hours per day; color perception; normal auditory requirement; spirometry abilities for respirator use
  • Safety, productivity, and attention to detail as daily objectives
  • Ability to monitor labor time allocation of projects
  • Ability to navigate divergent work environments, travel hundreds of miles per day using safe driving techniques
  • Ability to assess changing workplace conditions and adjust tasks
  • Ability to work independently and remotely under field, lab, and office conditions
  • Understanding of significance of errors/omissions in technical tasks
  • Familiarity with commercial agricultural conditions and practices

Responsibilities

  • Provide field support, including experimental setup and data acquisition across agronomy, crop physiology, and entomology
  • Collect field data (plant tissue, soil, insect sampling, harvest, data loggers, other information collection)
  • Organize resources (time, labor, materials)
  • Monitor field experiments
  • Record field observations or other experimental details
  • Organize and maintain current and historic work records for review
  • Reliably perform tasks with specific equipment after proper training
  • Work collaboratively with internal employees and contract labor crews
  • Use computer and cell phone apps for data entry
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Move freely between tasks depending on workload, season, etc
