Senior Motion Planning Engineer, Dev Tooling
Motional- Full Time
- Senior (5 to 8 years)
Candidates should possess an MS/PhD in machine learning, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or be an exceptional Bachelor’s student. Experience in ML-based or classical techniques for planning/decision making, such as imitation and reinforcement learning, optimization-based approaches, search methods, or probabilistic reasoning is required. A solid understanding of computing fundamentals, including code efficiency, and experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and proficiency in Python, Rust, C++, and/or CUDA are also necessary.
As a Research Engineer, you will integrate cutting-edge ML models into the production planning stack, developing necessary interfaces and pipelines in simulation for testing prototype or production planning models. You will collaborate closely with motion planning sub-teams and research scientists to improve the planner architecture and develop rich representations. Additionally, you will champion engineering excellence by ensuring high-quality, well-structured, and tested code, stay up-to-date with advancements in AI and self-driving technologies, work with large datasets and Waabi World, and contribute to the publication of research findings.
Develops self-driving technology for trucking
Waabi focuses on developing self-driving technology specifically for the trucking industry. Their main product, the Waabi Driver, is designed to learn from experiences, adapt to new situations, and work with various hardware setups. This technology aims for large-scale use and is intended for integration into vehicles by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). A key feature that sets Waabi apart from competitors is its use of Waabi World, an advanced simulation environment that allows for efficient development of their self-driving systems. This reduces the need for extensive real-world testing, which can be costly and time-consuming, while also improving safety and adaptability. Waabi's goal is to transform the trucking industry by providing technology that lowers operational costs and enhances safety for commercial vehicles. They aim to license their technology to trucking companies and OEMs, making it easier for these businesses to adopt self-driving solutions.
