Requirements

Adheres to the Organization Compliance Program, including all regulatory and Organization policy requirements
Maintains competency with all emergency operational procedures, including initiating CPR and emergency measures
Complies with organization, company, federal, state, and local regulations for administering medications, IV moderate sedation, and point-of-care laboratory testing
Practices in compliance with state regulations for additional tasks designated by the Physician
Maintains sterile technique when acting as scrub technologist
Operates facility equipment and technology (e.g., patient monitors, defibrillators, medical recording devices, sterilizers, computers) safely and efficiently
Inspects operation of all facility equipment and reports malfunctions

Responsibilities

Supports and drives organization quality standards through meeting regulatory/accrediting requirements and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) practices, including implementation of quality goals and action plans
Addresses and acts on adverse events and action thresholds in collaboration with facility management
Maintains integrity of medical records and other administrative/operational records; complies with data collection and auditing activities
Maintains facility environmental integrity and safety
Obtains medical history, discusses procedure, answers questions, and performs nursing assessment on the day of the procedure
Provides education to patients and families regarding post-procedure care of vascular access
Monitors patient condition pre, during, and post-procedure, especially for moderate sedation and contrast media reactions
Acts as a resource for patients, addressing concerns and communicating issues to facility management
Completes accurate documentation of patient information from admission to discharge
Confirms written orders, consents, and lab work; prepares lab requisitions, delivers to labs, and reports results to physicians
Administers medications and IV moderate sedation per physician orders
Assists physician during procedure as scrub technologist
Assists with patient workflow by transporting patients
Performs IV insertion, point-of-care laboratory testing per physician orders
Performs additional tasks as designated by Physician
Provides regular communication with physicians; attends CQI meetings and reports on assigned topics
Assists facility management in verifying instruments/equipment with physicians and staff
Assists physician in completing and reporting state-required adverse event reports
