Responsibilities

Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, defining interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends
Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating nursing care plans, coordinating with healthcare providers, and offering support
Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting conditions, conferring with family and friends, establishing diagnoses, objectives, interventions, schedules, and timetables
Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals, instructing patients, families, and friends on conditions, medications, and self-care, answering questions, and providing resources
Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring outcomes, reviewing records, noting changes, re-evaluating objectives, and modifying care plans
Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by following infection-control policies, medication procedures, controlled substance regulations, organizational standards, policies, and legal regulations; alerting others to concerns
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records
Keeps patient care equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance, and calling for repairs
Keeps patient care supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items
