Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Board of Nursing in the state of practice upon hire, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license, or one of the following Medical Assistant certifications upon hire: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Knowledge of principles of growth and development and ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient/customer's status
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department
  • Ability to work full-time day shifts and float to different specialty clinics in Sioux Falls
  • Ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations if applicable

Responsibilities

  • Float to different specialty clinics in Sioux Falls
  • Provide professional nursing care to patients and families (for RN)
  • Communicate with physicians and other healthcare team members to provide excellent patient care (for RN)
  • Perform selected medical assistant and clerical duties to assist in care for clinic patients following established standards, practices, and competency
  • Work collaboratively with other clinic staff to solve practice-related problems
  • Assist in care to patients as directed by provider based on competency
  • Provide accurate, completed, legible, and timely documentation of all patient procedures in the medical record
  • Maintain timely flow of patients
  • Instruct patients in collection of samples and tests; assist with patient and family education on procedures, medication use, nutrition, disease processes, and health/wellness maintenance based on competency
  • Greet patients and conduct clinical interviews collecting history and vital signs
  • Label and process lab specimens according to lab procedures
  • Maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials; perform daily/weekly environmental cleaning, equipment quality control, and maintenance
  • Clean and sterilize medical equipment according to policy
  • Follow correct procedures for handling and disposing of bio-hazardous infectious waste
  • Provide back-up help for front desk personnel, including answering telephone, scheduling/cancelling appointments, and scheduling consult patients
