Requirements

  • Active license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of practice
  • Ability to work rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform essential job functions satisfactorily
  • Maintains competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership

Responsibilities

  • Practices under supervision of RN, APRN, physician, or other provider (for LPN); organizes and directs accountable aspects of care; communicates and coordinates with health team members using nursing diagnoses
  • Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnosis, establishing care objectives, defining interventions, providing physical/emotional/psychological/spiritual support, noting changing conditions
  • Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating care plan, coordinating with providers, supporting patients/families/friends, conferring with physicians
  • Develops nursing care plans by obtaining histories, examining patients, documenting condition/psychological status/social factors, conferring with family/friends, establishing diagnosis/objectives/interventions/schedules
  • Teaches healthcare requirements by setting goals, instructing patients/families/friends on condition/medications/self-care, answering questions, providing resources
  • Evaluates patient care by adhering to standards, measuring outcomes, reviewing records, noting changes, re-evaluating/modifying care plans
  • Maintains safe/secure/healthy environment by following infection-control, medication administration/storage, controlled substance regulations, organizational/legal standards; alerting on concerns
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient/department records
  • Keeps equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, preventive maintenance, calling repairs
  • Keeps supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, ordering/expediting/verifying/stocking items
