Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Ability to work rotating shifts: M-F 5-9PM; Sat-Sun 9AM-3PM (evening and weekend extended hours)
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds

Responsibilities

  • Triage and assess oncology patients
  • Administer treatments and transfusions in an oncology infusion center setting
  • Provide nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, defining interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends
  • Review physician prescriptions, communicate nursing care plans, and coordinate with healthcare team members
  • Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting conditions, conferring with family/friends, and establishing objectives and interventions
  • Teach healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals, instructing patients/families on conditions, medications, and self-care, answering questions, and providing resources
  • Evaluate patient care by adhering to standards, measuring outcomes, reviewing records, noting changes, re-evaluating objectives, and modifying care plans
  • Maintain safe patient care environment by following infection-control policies, medication procedures, controlled substance regulations, organization standards, and legal requirements
  • Document patient care services in patient and department records
  • Maintain patient care equipment by following instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance, and arranging repairs
  • Manage patient care supplies by checking stock, anticipating needs, ordering, verifying receipt, and stocking items
