Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to acute and chronic dialysis patients
  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day operations of the unit, including staffing and patient scheduling, ensuring safe and efficient operations
  • Assist leader in review, implementation, and compliance of Avera policies/procedures and external regulatory requirements
  • Assist with submission of quality and regulatory reporting; collect and analyze performance improvement data
  • Review patient treatment plans with direct caregivers and primary nurses; offer suggestions/interventions to enhance efficiency and quality of care
  • Communicate and round with patients and staff as directed
  • Coordinate operations and procedures including biomedical matters, physician orders, supplies, primary nursing, and regulatory reporting
  • Round with physicians, provide patient updates, and follow through with physician orders
  • Facilitate resolution of staff/family/patient concerns and report to proper management as necessary
  • Utilize order sets to timely order lab work; monitor lab results and report abnormal results to nephrologist
  • Assist leader with staff orientation, staff development, procedure development/revision, and patient education
  • Act as a clinical resource assuring implementation of program policy/procedures and regulatory compliance; oversee care and day-to-day operations by managing staff assignments and duties
