Requirements

  • Ability to collaborate with Avera Executive Vice President of Mission and leaders throughout Avera to maintain, strengthen, and promote Catholic identity, mission, values, and culture
  • Expertise in providing leadership to integrate mission and promote Catholic identity into all organizational aspects
  • Skills in shaping culture grounded in Avera's values and spirituality reflective of its heritage and faith traditions
  • Capability to collaborate in developing new ministries and advancing advocacy at national, state, and local levels
  • Experience facilitating community involvement and relationships
  • Ability to serve as a liaison between sponsors, CEO, and local bishops on ethical, moral, advocacy, and Catholic identity issues
  • Proficiency in leading integration of heritage, tradition, mission, and values amid changing healthcare contexts
  • Competence in educating and inspiring personnel on how their work advances mission, values, and healing ministry
  • Ability to read signs of the times and develop evolving strategies with integrity
  • Partnership skills to ensure mission and values in policies, practices, procedures, recruitment, selection, and retention
  • Responsibility for creating, delivering, measuring, and integrating formative experiences for employees
  • Facilitation skills to invite dialog on calling/vocation and hold space for the Holy Spirit
  • Capacity to cultivate integrated spiritual life, articulate lived faith, and encourage others
  • Ability to establish honest, caring, joyful community relationships and foster well-being initiatives/holistic care
  • Theological training to apply to practical/pastoral healthcare issues
  • Knowledge to identify, translate, and apply Catholic social teaching, moral theology, and ERDs
  • Experience serving on ethics committees, providing ethics education, identifying ethical issues, and facilitating discernment
  • Engagement skills with leaders to ensure commitment to justice, solidarity, and right relationships in strategy, decisions, policies, and budgets
  • Involvement in setting advocacy priorities and collaborating with stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Foster mission-centered culture throughout Avera and enhance relationships with the institutional Church
  • Serve as liaison between sponsors/CEO and local bishops on ethical/moral decisions, advocacy for poor/marginalized, and Catholic identity accountability
  • Lead integration of Avera's heritage, tradition, mission, and values in changing healthcare contexts
  • Educate and inspire Avera personnel on mission/values advancement and adapt strategies for the future
  • Partner to express mission/values in policies, practices, procedures, and inclusive recruitment/retention
  • Create, deliver, measure, and integrate formative experiences for employees at all levels
  • Invite dialog on calling/vocation and facilitate recognition of the Holy Spirit's work
  • Cultivate spiritual life, articulate faith experiences, empower individuals/Avera, and develop well-being/holistic care initiatives
  • Apply theological training to healthcare issues, serve as resource on Catholic teachings/ERDs, participate in ethics committees, and facilitate ethical discernment
  • Engage leaders in dialog to align strategy/decisions/policies/budgets with justice, solidarity, and right relationships
  • Collaborate on advocacy priorities with CEO and Avera Office for Public Policy
