Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in claims handling for Business Property insurance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to providing excellent service
  • Proven organizational skills, including the ability to manage workload and maintain a claim journal
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently within assigned authority
  • Required Certification: Claims Expert (5A)
  • Language Proficiency: Bilingual (English and French) is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Manage new and existing Business Property insurance claims, including Marine and Energy
  • Evaluate coverage, reserves, and conduct detailed post-loss investigations, documenting findings accurately
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with clients, brokers, underwriters, and other business partners
  • Respond promptly to calls, emails, and letters
  • Process claims in accordance with best practices, claim handling guidelines, and all compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Assign claims to legal counsel and consult with them on claims requiring the filing of a statement of claim
  • Follow litigation guidelines and participate in mediation, as needed
  • Work autonomously within assigned authority and contribute effectively to the team
