Requirements

  • Adheres to the Organization’s Compliance Program, including all regulatory and policy requirements
  • Knowledge of organization’s policies, procedures, and training for radiological equipment operation and quality control
  • Compliance with state and federal regulations, HIPPA policies, and standards regarding patient confidentiality
  • Ability to perform patient preparations, positioning, shaving, prepping, transfers, and transports
  • Skills in setting up/stocking procedure rooms/trays, cleaning equipment, and maintaining sterile technique
  • Proficiency in inputting patient data into C-Arm, administering fluoroscopy, acting as scrub assistant, and drawing up/labeling intravenous medication
  • Capability to process x-ray images and archive to repositories, CDs, or DVDs
  • Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) tools and practices
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records, perform audits, ensure environmental integrity, and inspect equipment
  • Skills in inventory and supply management, hazardous waste disposal, and preventing waste
  • Effective communication with physicians and staff, participation in meetings (Governing Body, CQI)
  • Ability to train and orient new employees, review procedures for accurate billing (CPT/ICD9 codes), and address physician concerns

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians in performing interventional radiology procedures
  • Operates and performs quality control on radiological equipment
  • Prepares patient and procedure room for radiology procedures, reviews orders for materials/supplies
  • Sets up/stocks procedure room/trays, cleans room and equipment post-procedure
  • Explains procedures to patients, answers questions, addresses concerns
  • Prepares patient for procedures (positioning, shaving, prepping), performs transfers/transports
  • Inputs patient data into C-Arm, acts as scrub assistant, administers fluoroscopy while maintaining sterile technique
  • Draws up intravenous medication and labels per policy
  • Processes and archives x-ray images per policies and regulations
  • Supports quality standards through CQI, implements quality goals/action plans, ensures regulatory compliance
  • Maintains accurate/complete medical records, performs audits, ensures environmental cleanliness/safety
  • Inspects equipment daily, makes recommendations for replacements/repairs
  • Assists with disposal of hazardous waste, dirty linen, rugs; organizes supplies to prevent waste
  • Participates in Governing Body and CQI meetings, gathers data/materials, reports on topics
  • Ensures effective communication with physicians, addresses concerns, ensures instruments/equipment availability
  • Assists in training/orienting new employees
  • Reviews procedures for accurate/timely patient billing, verifies CPT/ICD9 codes, documents charges
  • Assists with inventory and supply management
