Requirements

  • Adheres to the Organization’s Compliance Program, including all regulatory and policy requirements
  • Knowledge of radiological equipment operation and quality control in accordance with policies, procedures, and training
  • Compliance with state and federal regulations, HIPAA policies, and standards regarding patient confidentiality
  • Ability to maintain sterile technique during procedures
  • Skills in patient positioning, shaving, prepping, transfers, and transport
  • Proficiency in inputting patient data into C-Arm and administering fluoroscopy
  • Capability to draw up and label intravenous medication per policy
  • Experience processing x-ray images and archiving to repositories
  • Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) tools and practices
  • Ability to inspect equipment daily, make recommendations for repairs/replacements, and ensure environmental integrity
  • Competence in inventory, supply management, and waste disposal
  • Effective communication with physicians and participation in meetings
  • Skills in training and orienting new employees
  • Knowledge of accurate medical record maintenance, audits, and billing (CPT/ICD9 codes)

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians in performing interventional radiology procedures
  • Performs patient and procedure room preparations, including stocking trays, supplies, and equipment
  • Cleans procedure room and equipment post-procedure
  • Reviews procedure orders to determine needed materials/supplies
  • Explains procedures to patients, answers questions, and addresses concerns
  • Prepares patients for procedures (positioning, shaving, prepping)
  • Acts as scrub assistant during procedures, administering fluoroscopy while maintaining sterility
  • Inputs patient data into C-Arm
  • Draws up and labels intravenous medication
  • Processes and archives x-ray images
  • Supports quality standards through CQI, regulatory compliance, and action plans
  • Maintains accurate, complete medical records and performs audits
  • Ensures facility cleanliness, safety, and equipment functionality
  • Assists with hazardous waste disposal, linen, and supply management
  • Participates in Governing Body and CQI meetings, prepares agendas/data
  • Ensures effective physician communication and addresses concerns
  • Assists in training new employees
  • Reviews procedures for accurate, timely patient billing and verifies codes
  • Assists with inventory and ordering supplies
