Requirements

  • Associate's or certification from an accredited School of Radiology
  • Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 60 days
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • 1-3 years related experience in surgery (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Operate radiologic equipment including c-arms and ERCP equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians
  • Perform routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices
  • Prepare patients and adjust equipment for taking exposure
  • Position patients for procedures and work with physicians to obtain optimal images
  • Determine proper voltage, current, exposure time, and practice ALARA
  • Adjust lead shield to protect unaffected parts of the body from radiation exposure
  • Select DR plate and insert into holder or improvise setup as applicable
  • Position equipment at proper distance and angles from body to specified area
  • Activate machinery from protective enclosure or while shielded
  • Arrange, attach, or adjust immobilization and support devices to obtain precise position, prevent movement, and lessen discomfort
  • Operate c-arm equipment to provide quality images for surgeons
  • Coordinate surgery schedules to assure excellent radiology service for surgeons
  • Perform clerical duties (In House PACS and Teleradiology Competent)
  • Take x-ray images in other hospital areas with portable equipment
  • Transport equipment to areas such as operating room, emergency room, and patient rooms
  • Observe sterile techniques and complete procedures promptly
  • Assist with staff/student on-the-job training, orientation, and education of students in the School of Radiological Technology
  • Produce high quality images via digital imaging for Radiologist interpretation
  • Assist with collection and maintenance of records as needed by Radiology Department, Quality Assurance, Joint Commission, OSHA, or law
