Requirements

  • Must hold a minimum ACA-CSC Entry Level Trained / Certified qualification (i.e. Level 1)
  • Must hold a minimum Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) Level 1
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in a variety of unpredictable weather conditions
  • Must be able to work weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) from Christmas through March Break
  • Successful applicants (18yrs of age+) are required to provide a Criminal Background Check (Vulnerable Sector Search)
  • Previous race, race coach and/or ski instructing experience considered an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, fun and personalized race training environment for skill development of athletes
  • Work with the Manager and Assistant Manager of Race, Race Supervisors and co-coach to design, implement, evaluate and adjust season-long training and competition plans
  • Engage, motivate and lead your team and athletes
  • Teach by example with frequent demonstrations
  • Be prepared with a plan and maintain an accurate journal of training activities
  • Maintain frequent contact with parents
  • Facilitate team trips to other races and events in the area
  • Promote Blue Mountain and act as role model for athletes
  • Responsible for the safety, skill development and supervision of all athletes on the team
  • Help Supervisors create and maintain an athlete centered training and race environment by providing quality service in a professional, well-organized and up to date manner
  • Assist the Head Coach, Supervisors and Race Administrative Coordinators with all aspects of training and race duties as required
