Requirements

  • B.S. degree in engineering or construction management (or combination of high school diploma with QC experience and certifications)
  • Minimum five years of related experience
  • Knowledge of a wide range of construction materials, methods, and techniques
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills (diplomacy, persuasion)
  • Strategic thinking and effective problem-solving skills
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Strong negotiation and conflict-management skills
  • Ability to adapt effectively to changing priorities and deliver results

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain the project submittal log and all other project-specific quality control reports
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications (directly or leveraging team knowledge)
  • Chair and document weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written minutes as per contract documents
  • Provide daily QC reports reinforcing conformance and addressing non-conformances
  • Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to establish standards for each definable feature of work
  • Verify and document that materials received conform to approved submittals, are handled/stored appropriately, and are acceptable
  • Conduct preconstruction meetings with subcontractors and superintendent prior to new work phases
  • Coordinate and document testing and commissioning of building systems
  • Maintain project "as-built" drawings daily
  • Assemble and forward project closeout documents (O&M manuals, as-builts, warranties)
  • Stop work if necessary to resolve safety, quality, or progress issues
  • Facilitate the commissioning process
  • Conduct upfront investigations to foresee unusual installation requirements and expedite inspections/sign-offs
  • Push back on requests outside contract scope and find cost-efficient ways to fulfill requirements
  • Actively participate in solving QC issues
  • Provide direct oversight and review of documentation and physical inspection phases, working with stakeholders
