Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2-5 years in a purchasing, procurement or warehouse supervisory role. Experience in steel or heavy manufacturing is a plus
  • Willingness to travel at least 2-3 quarterly to other sites
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with purchasing software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (Oracle or SAP) is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal teams
  • Analytical mindset with an understanding of financial metrics related to purchasing

Responsibilities

  • Product Sourcing & Purchasing: Research, source, and purchase high-quality products and materials, ensuring timely delivery at competitive prices
  • Supplier Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
  • Inventory Management: Work closely with key stakeholders including Production, Maintenance and Operations teams to maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring product availability and minimizing excess inventory
  • Market Analysis: Continuously monitor market trends and industry changes, identifying new suppliers or cost-saving opportunities
  • Order Management: Create purchase orders, monitor order status, and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery
  • Cost Control: Review supplier invoices, analyze pricing trends, and collaborate with finance to ensure that budget guidelines are adhered to
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that products meet company quality standards and resolve any issues with defective or non-conforming goods
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of purchases, vendor communications, and inventory levels; prepare purchasing reports for management
  • Receiving and issuing parts and cycle counting to maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring product availability and minimizing excess inventory
