Requirements

  • Doctorate (PhD, EdD, or PsyD) in Psychology or equivalent
  • Psychologist license from the Licensing Board (active license in the state of practice within 1-1/2 years)
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Ability to work primarily days with possible weekends, evenings, holidays (80 hours/2 weeks)
  • Preferred: MSW, LPC, or LMFT with ability to bill for services

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention for acute, chronic, or moderately disturbed mentally ill clients under supervision of a licensed psychologist
  • Provide clinical consultation services and community education services
  • Coordinate a clinical treatment program for diagnosis, treatment, or referral of clients/patients with moderate to severe social adjustment problems
  • Adhere to policies assuring confidentiality of client communications
  • Provide a multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to client treatment, coordinating with appropriate hospital departments
  • Conduct individual, family, and/or group therapy sessions in accordance with American Psychological Association principles
  • Assess client/patient progress and modify or extend treatment programs accordingly
  • Coordinate care with referring physicians or agencies
  • Document therapy in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
  • Intervene as a crisis counselor in situations such as substance abuse, suicide attempts, psychotic episodes, or other instances per hospital policy
  • Refer clients/patients to outside agencies where appropriate
  • Communicate with family members/significant others to enhance treatment effectiveness
  • Coordinate client/patient billing and modify treatment programs based on insurance coverage, plan provisions, and ability to pay
  • Develop and coordinate systems and signage for billable services within patient medical records as needed by supervisor
  • Meet with Director for scheduled supervision sessions
  • Provide educational programs on psychological topics to hospital/community groups as requested
  • Administer and interpret psychological assessment instruments and outcomes
  • Attend regularly scheduled weekly supervision sessions with assigned supervisor and/or psychology director
  • Alert psychology director to issues or concerns related to policies, procedures, client issues, or clinic problems
  • Attend at least 50% of Psychology Section meetings
