Requirements

  • Knowledge and adherence to AEP project management organizational standards and guidance from the AEP Project Management Governance Committee

Responsibilities

  • Manage one or more intermediate and/or complex projects, up to highest-level complexity or a program area, within a matrix team environment
  • Provide leadership, direction, training, coordination, and effective communication to initiate, plan, execute, monitor/control, and close projects safely, efficiently, economically, and with risk balance to achieve short/long-range goals and maximum customer satisfaction
  • Provide project transparency and develop relationships/communicate effectively with stakeholders (internal/external customers, team members, suppliers, contractors, vendors, industry peers) for sound business decisions
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise assigned project and outage work activities
  • Supervise, develop, review, and coordinate project/outage plan, schedule, budget, tools, and staff
  • Effectively manage cost and reallocate funding timely; communicate project/outage details and status updates
  • Lead planning meetings and project/outage updates, including stakeholder presentations
  • Provide clear/concise written reports
  • Develop and manage effective working relationships; foster teamwork; monitor customer satisfaction
  • Provide guidance, instruction, training to improve design, systems, procedures, processes, schedules, costs
  • Challenge others confidently in project work
  • Ensure maximum customer satisfaction and efficient performance of project/outage activities
  • Perform supervision duties for direct reports; support their development; mentor other project/assistant managers
  • Represent AEP with customers, vendors, regulators as required
  • Develop/manage procurement plans; manage contracts for outside services (RFPs, bids, negotiations, performance oversight)
  • Manage closeout processes, including project success analysis
  • Use/align organization with AEP project management standards; manage projects to those standards; adhere to Governance Committee guidance
  • Manage programs as assigned
