  • Knowledge of food safety, quality control specifications, and company GMPs
  • Ability to work with management/chemical suppliers on sanitation improvements and cost reductions
  • Coordination skills with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and production teams

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high production, quality, and yields while ensuring the safest working environment
  • Build, hire, train, retain, and counsel team members; guide in stretches and rotate workstations
  • Promote safety daily and through monthly meetings
  • Perform day-to-day sanitation of equipment/facility or production management as needed
  • Appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems
  • Train and document sanitation workers for safe equipment operation/disassembly
  • Ensure compliance with safety rules, standards, PPE, food safety, quality control, and GMPs
  • Develop, maintain, and comply with Master Sanitation Schedule; create clear cleaning procedures
  • Work with management/chemical suppliers to improve sanitation and reduce costs; protect product during sanitation
  • Supervise, motivate, and train sanitation/production workers; coordinate sanitation/production items
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance on sanitation issues (new products, special runs) and Maintenance on packaging equipment setup
  • Check daily production orders for fulfillment, accurate shipments, record keeping, inventory rotation, and product coding
  • Ensure all workstations are staffed before production start-up
  • Ensure machinery performance and workstations pass USDA inspection
  • Oversee various processing operations
  • Other duties as assigned
