Requirements

  • Prior managerial experience in building and leading agile, professional design teams
  • Experience as a people leader who can lead, guide, mentor, and integrate design teams with business partners from inception to product delivery
  • High degree of business acumen with experience in the financial services sector and/or risk management practices
  • Established expertise and leadership in product design, including skills across interaction, visual, and service design
  • Ability to leverage a variety of tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems to develop artifacts such as vision stories, journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes
  • Ability to lead high-impact, highly complex projects and define/drive design strategy aligned to business objectives and organizational vision
  • Ability to create conditions for a positive and inclusive team environment and set a vision for an inclusive, collaborative culture

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Audit, Credit & Financial Risk Management (CFRM), and Enterprise Services Risk (ESR) team of twelve (and growing) design professionals within the Risk and Audit Design team
  • Collaborate deeply with research teams, Product, and Tech leadership, as well as enterprise Risk business partners including business owners, product owners/managers, and engineering partners
  • Drive innovation and user experiences in credit and financial risk management, enterprise services risk, and internal auditing capabilities/processes to ensure compliance and timely business/product decisions
  • Oversee and optimize the use of appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems in collaboration with cross-functional partners
  • Elevate the quality and maturity of the design practice at Capital One
  • Own and sustain effective cross-functional partnerships and lead the team into future strategic visions
  • Push innovation, professionalism, design quality, and craft to safeguard the business and Capital One ecosystem
