Requirements

High School Diploma required
2 years’ experience in produce or other perishable receiving and inspection preferred
Working knowledge of USDA Specs, Grades and Standards required
Working knowledge of PACA laws required
Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant applications/hardware
Completion of US Foods Produce Inspector Course (within 60 days of hire)
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time

Responsibilities

Physically perform daily inspections of all incoming fresh produce deliveries and all fresh produce in inventory in accordance with USDA guidelines
Ensure quality of produce received from suppliers, stored in the warehouse, and shipped to customers meets US FOODS® standard specifications
Work directly with warehouse management to identify and address food safety concerns
Make decisions to reject or accept fresh produce at receiving and ensure appropriate processes are followed consistent with PACA laws when rejection is necessary
Withdraw products from inventory that do not meet US FOODS® specifications
Collaborate with replenishment lead on dumps, damages, and produce re-work decisions
Communicate daily with replenishment lead and warehouse manager on all issues related to fresh produce
Make recommendations on dump, damage, or repackaging
Verify Purchase Order quantities and inspect quality for all inbound perishable loads
Inspect all inbound trucks for signs of pests and rodents before unloading
Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to receiving, storage, and shipping of fresh produce
Document temperatures of all inbound loads and report violations to warehouse manager and replenishment lead
Check for proper rotation of all product inventory and perform daily quality inspections for all fresh produce items in inventory
Maintain records of inspections
