Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential job functions (Master’s degree a plus)
  • 3+ years management/professional experience (5+ years preferred)
  • Significant produce industry experience, sales, merchandising and/or operations experience within a retail, wholesale or distribution environment preferred
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills preferred
  • Ability to build high performing teams and enable best practice sharing and support culture
  • Ability to motivate

Responsibilities

  • Drive profitable sales growth of the produce category within a region
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Sales, Supply Chain, Revenue Management) and across entities (Market, Corporate, Specialty)
  • Act as category expert providing training, product information, regulatory guidance, and market cost guidance to internal and external customers
  • Align with SMS Produce teams to execute strategies and identify category development opportunities
  • Coordinate with sales teams to propose new business and ensure compliance/support of SMS Produce and Freshpoint
  • Analyze data and market insights to understand consumer needs, research competitors, and suggest pricing
  • Manage site-specific market cost decisions weekly
  • Collaborate with Regional Revenue Management Director and Regional VP of Merch to provide customer-specific pricing using contract programs
  • Provide field feedback on strategies and advise on marketing materials to improve sales
  • Provide planning team with forecasts for product demand trends
  • Coordinate new customer onboarding activities and address needs of key CMU/LCC contacts
  • Provide product assortment and SKU rationalization recommendations aligned with regional demand
  • Ensure product availability and design exit strategies for unsuccessful products
  • Provide SC support through business reviews, customer insight encounters, targeted training, and education
  • Schedule and manage category sales training for Sales Consultants
  • Communicate timely with sales force on market conditions, product quality/availability, new items, and applications
  • Develop and monitor SOPs ensuring pick locations are checked daily
  • Collaborate with Operations and Food Safety teams
  • Work with QA and Operations to generate PDNs, ensure accuracy/timely completion/submission, and track/settle claims
  • Mitigate expense/shrink by working with inventory control on expiration dating via SWMS reports
  • Work with Quality Assurance leads, Operations, and Transportation Management
  • Establish accountability for thorough inspection of all inbound product
  • Collaborate with QA and Product Support Advisors to ensure quality/integrity of inbound/outbound Category 11 products
  • Manage market adherence to GAP/GMP compliance
