Requirements
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of directly related experience, and a strong understanding of polymer expertise is required for designing and carrying out formulation experiments and characterization to develop next-generation biomaterials for ophthalmic applications. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of structure and property relationships in polymers, particularly the connection between molecular architecture and morphology and bulk properties is essential, along with experience in identifying and executing appropriate testing methodologies to evaluate potential new contact lenses, lens surfaces, package saline and lens care products.
Responsibilities
This Principal Scientist role involves utilizing polymer expertise to design and carry out formulation experiments, supporting team execution of project plans, identifying and optimizing novel materials for contact lens, saline, and lens care product formulations, documenting experimental results, filing invention disclosures, and supporting patent filings. The position also requires monitoring patent and scientific literature, handling chemicals safely, complying with Health, Safety, and Environment operational requirements, and using statistical techniques to analyze data. Furthermore, the role includes developing an external network of research partners and collaborators, and actively communicating experimental results to project teams.
