Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Design, Digital Design, Visual Communication, or a related field, or have equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5-8 years of professional design experience, with a strong emphasis on visual design for large-scale digital platforms, is required. A portfolio showcasing exceptional design craft across various mediums and platforms, including websites and consumer applications, is essential. Mastery of typography, layout, composition, and color theory, with the ability to push brand expression for digital product experiences, is necessary. Experience designing within and contributing to design systems is also required, along with strong collaboration skills and the ability to partner effectively across creative, strategic, and technical teams. Excellent communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences are expected.

Responsibilities

The Principal Visual Designer will define the visual identity, tone, and style for major commercial design initiatives, with an emphasis on Lilly.com, brand websites, and consumer applications. They will lead the visual execution of flagship digital experiences, balancing innovation with adherence to brand standards. Responsibilities include creating and refining high-fidelity design deliverables and prototypes, partnering with copywriters, strategists, and technologists to align visual solutions with audience insights, business goals, and campaign strategies. The role involves providing direction and constructive critique to design peers, mentoring them in craft, detail, and execution, and staying ahead of design trends, tools, and technologies to elevate commercial creative output. The designer will also present visual concepts and rationale persuasively to internal teams and executive stakeholders, ensuring designs are both visually compelling and practical for execution within various product delivery channels.
