Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience
  • Recognized expert capable of managing large projects or processes with considerable latitude in determining deliverables and limited oversight
  • Ability to contribute to defining direction for new products, processes, standards, or operational plans with significant impact on work group results
  • Proficiency in solving difficult, moderately complex, and undefined problems through detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation
  • Skills in developing solutions to moderately complex problems and making moderate to significant improvements to processes, systems, or products independently
  • Experience representing the organization as a primary contact for projects, communicating with internal/external customers and vendors, negotiating, and influencing decision-making
  • Capability to provide guidance, coaching, training, delegate work, review work products, and act as a team leader for major/moderately complex projects

Responsibilities

  • Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality standards and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished products
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment
  • Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment
  • Conducts quality assurance tests and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements
  • May specialize in areas such as design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality
  • Formulates, delivers, and/or manages assigned projects; works with stakeholders to achieve desired results
  • Acts as a mentor to colleagues or directs the work of lower-level professionals
  • Delivers R&D, systems, or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies from design to implementation, adhering to policies using specialized knowledge and skills
  • Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to lower-level specialists
