Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience
  • Mastery of 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo) and engineering analysis tools (FEA, tolerance analysis) (preferred)
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory standards (FDA, ISO 13485) and risk management (FMEA, hazard analysis) (preferred)
  • Proven track record leading complex design projects and mentoring engineers (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills (preferred)
  • Experience designing components for diabetes devices (insulin pumps, CGMs, infusion sets) or similar wearable/implantable medical devices (preferred)
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, 3D printing, automated assembly) (preferred)
  • Advanced skills in tolerance analysis, predictive modeling, and GD&T (preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in launching products into high-volume manufacturing (preferred)
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills (preferred)
  • Passion for Medtronic’s mission and commitment to improving patient lives (preferred)
  • Experience within the medical device industry (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and validation of mechanical and electromechanical components, subsystems, and systems for diabetes management devices
  • Apply advanced modeling, simulation, and analysis (FEA, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA) to create robust, high-performance, and manufacturable designs
  • Translate product requirements and user feedback into innovative design concepts and detailed engineering specifications
  • Work closely with electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions
  • Serve as a technical mentor, guiding and developing junior engineers and project teams
  • Support design transfer to high-volume manufacturing, engaging with vendors and leading process validation
  • Represent Medtronic as a technical expert with internal and external partners, including customers and suppliers
  • Champion best practices in mechanical design, risk management, regulatory compliance, and design for manufacturability
