Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily operation of web presses as directed by the press operator
  • Maintain cleanliness and operation of press
  • Coordinate with internal agencies for required materials (e.g., ink, plate, paper, tape)
  • Ensure accuracy of printed material coming from the press
  • Effectively run press when operator is on breaks, lunches, and PTO
  • Read and understand schedules, job tickets, and multi-part specifications
  • Assist in inspecting printed sheets to ensure correctness in all areas (color registration, match to samples, Stock #, and specifications) at minimum every 15 minutes
  • Wash blankets and plates
  • Place printed sheets into boxes, move 50-pound boxes onto pallet, and stage stock for receiving into warehouse
  • Assist in entering all machine codes, subcodes, material codes, quantities, and time periods accurately for production records
  • Assist press operator in moving and maintaining registration, color, perfs, punched, and all other printing specifications
  • Prepare roll-stock for printing: open rolls and place rolls onto splicer; inspect roll for defects before placing onto splicer
  • Assist in performing job make-ready (take ink out of machine, wash fountains & rollers, etc.)
  • Perform Perf Testing (as assigned) and enter data into perf database computer
  • Perform Autonomous Maintenance duties on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis and prepare press for operation
  • Retrieve ink and place into ink fountains; enter ink taken and ink returned into ink room computer
  • Keep work area, benches, equipment, tools, supplies, skids, packaging materials, records, ink, printed product, and waste neat, clean, and organized
  • May assist in training others to develop areas of identified weaknesses; may cross-train others to run equipment or special functions
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
  • Support and comply with internal and external audits, including providing information and performing assigned tasks
