Requirements

  • Partner directly with a Gresham Police Officer and respond to individuals in mental health crises within the city of Gresham
  • Work Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., primarily in the community using Police Bureau vehicle
  • Approach work from a trauma-informed, strength-based perspective
  • Collaborate with mental health/physical health providers, police, emergency departments, schools, and social services
  • Operate in ambiguous and changing environments
  • Respect client rights, maintain professional boundaries and ethics
  • Adhere to mandatory abuse reporting laws and HIPAA
  • Document in electronic health record (EHR) per agency, program, local, state, and federal regulations
  • Assess personal safety and demonstrate responsibility for safety

Responsibilities

  • Provide mobile crisis response, risk assessment, crisis stabilization planning, and follow-up engagement/outreach for adults and children
  • Receive referrals from Gresham Police and collaborate to determine approach to each situation
  • Work collaboratively with police partner while respecting individuals' perceptions of police and potential trauma
  • Identify/assess risk factors for harm to self/others via client interview and collateral info; articulate intervention rationale, opting for least intrusive/supportive options
  • Initiate involuntary transport holds per County guidelines for at-risk individuals
  • Coordinate crisis responses with community agencies/service providers
  • Provide assessment dispositions to treatment providers/emergency departments
  • Assess personal safety and collaborate with police on intervention risks/plans
  • Provide info and facilitate linkage to mental health treatment/social services
  • Consult with teammates, supervisors, program managers, and medical directors
