Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

  • Build, evolve, and support DroneShield’s CI/CD systems and workflows.
  • Define and manage infrastructure using Terraform (AWS, on-prem, and hybrid environments).
  • Improve observability stack and telemetry coverage (metrics, logs, traces).
  • Build tooling and automation that reduces cognitive overhead for internal engineering teams.
  • Support rollout of security and compliance practices via automated guardrails.
  • Contribute to self-service internal platform capabilities to improve team velocity.
  • Track and improve DORA metrics: deployment frequency, lead time, MTTR, and change failure rate.
  • Write automation and platform tooling in Go, Python, or TypeScript to support internal systems.
  • Work closely with a larger Platforms team in Headquarters to support our DroneSentry C2 and ruggedised field hardware.
  • Support US based developers.
  • Expected to have high-level Linux skills.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling (ideally GitLab, but flexible).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform (Enterprise and Open Source).
  • Programming or scripting experience with languages such as Python and Go.
  • Experience with Linux based environments.
  • Awareness of US Government security requirements and guidelines for hardware, OS, software and SDLC.
  • Experience with Bash and one or more configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet, Chef).
  • Knowledge of deploying and managing modern observability stacks (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry).
  • Experience with containerisation (Docker) and knowledge of orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Experience applying DevSecOps principles and security best practices into pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Ability to build and manage cloud and hybrid infrastructure (AWS preferred; Azure also valued).
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a strong developer experience, with a mindset focused on reliability, simplicity, and speed.
  • Understanding of platform-as-product principles and commitment to improving internal tooling quality.
