Candidates should possess a foundational understanding of systems, including Linux, networking, and cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, Containers, OCI image creation, Helm, and Terraform. A deep-rooted curiosity and intuitive grasp of core principles are essential for dissecting and understanding complex architectures residing on the edge or in the cloud.
The Platform Engineer will be responsible for building, deploying, and supporting solutions that operate seamlessly across edge compute devices and cloud environments, including designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-native architectures using container orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, and automation tools. They will integrate existing Shift5 software components to build cohesive solutions, assemble components to create data pipelines tailored to customer requirements, and leverage knowledge to drive innovation within existing products, continuously exploring ways to improve functionality, efficiency, and scalability.
Observability platform for operational technology
Shift5 offers an observability platform that focuses on cybersecurity and data analytics for operational technology (OT) in defense and transportation sectors. The platform collects and analyzes data from onboard systems, such as buses and weapon systems, and is protocol-agnostic, allowing it to adapt to various data communication protocols.
